How does information transform when it is converted from one medium to another?
Artifacts of Urban Life
These artifacts capture my sensory experience walking on the Brooklyn Bridge Promenade. Through a process analogous to that of city life- symbiotic, reactionary, and existing in a heightened degree of entropy- each artifact was created by reinterpreting a sensory experience(such as tactile, visual, or auditory). Investigations in pattern, color, materiality, form and light explore the macro + micro layering within the city, the juxtaposition of rigidity and softness, the decay and ephemerality of the landscape, and the abrupt integration of natural and fabricated moments/ components. Such questions were considered-
How do the senses form cognitive patterns based on material experience?
How is metaphorical thinking used to understand new phenomena?
How is meaning affected by structure?- what is distorted, how is it received, what fades away, and what is left behind . .
